The Rich Get Richer During the Pandemic Period in Indonesia, how come?

During the pandemic, the number of rich people in various countries experienced a sharp increase. How come? This was revealed by an investment company, Credit Suisse, that during the COVID-19 pandemic,

Indonesia is one of the countries that experienced an increase in the number of millionaires in 2020. Credit Suisse said, the number of people with wealth above US $ 1 million or equivalent to Rp. 14.49 billion (USD 14,486) in Indonesia there are as many as 172,000 people. An increase of 62.3% compared to 2020.

The factor that caused the increase was mainly the increase in asset prices. One of them is driven by low-interest rates which push up asset prices in financial markets. In addition to the financial market, there was also an increase in the price of physical assets such as the property which still recorded an increase even though the pace was slowing. In 2020, the residential housing price index rose 1.55% YoY (year on year).

So here it is not only from income or monthly salary but more on investment income that provides a consistent return. This is what makes the rich richer.
